For homes that feel too small, too large, or simply unresolved.
Precision, not size, is what makes a home feel generous. Through light, circulation, flexibility, and carefully considered furniture, I help homes feel more spacious, adaptable, and enjoyable to live in.

Spaciousness has very little to do with square footage.
In reality, spaciousness comes from light, views, flexibility, proportion, circulation, and the relationship between furniture and architecture.
Some homes feel cramped because they are small. Others feel uncomfortable because they are too large, fragmented, or poorly organized. In both cases, the goal is the same: creating a home that feels more generous, comfortable, and supportive of daily life.
I am Marta, a PhD architect and design advisor.
My research on precise living took me to Japan and France, where I studied how light, proportion, and adaptable elements shape how a space feels — regardless of its size. I learned that the most comfortable homes are not necessarily the largest. They are the ones designed with care, where every decision supports daily life.
I applied these lessons to Casa FonJay in Houston, and to homes across the Bay Area. My twenty years of practice span every scale, from a single piece of furniture to a full neighborhood. I help clients see possibilities in their space that are not obvious at first — not by adding square footage, but by creating the right relationships between people, light, movement, and daily routines.
"Marta Rodriguez's expertise of maximizing small spaces is without compare. She understood our project, she was genuine — but more than anything, she brought a passion that not a single other architect had. At one point I said 'Is she moving in with us?' She thinks different."— Jay Marroquín, Homeowner
