Design for Health & Pleasure
Bay Area

Life evolves.
Your space
should too.

Good design starts by listening — to the space, and to you.

About

Your space should support you, not demand more of you.

Dr. Marta focuses on health and pleasure in domestic spaces, particularly during moments of life transformation — welcoming a baby, moving in together, renovating, children leaving home, or adapting to a new stage of life.

I reduce the mental load your home places on you through thoughtful spatial decisions. I study your space, your environment, and your daily routines to identify what is truly needed — and what your home could become.

A PhD in Architecture, research in Japan on small spaces and transformability, and direct collaboration with Rem Koolhaas form the foundation of a practice that is rigorous, sensorial, and deeply personal.

01

Elegance

Refined simplicity. Spaces that breathe — where every choice is intentional and nothing is superfluous.

02

Economy

Purposeful use of what is already there. Every element earns its place through function and beauty.

03

Ecology

Harmony between space and self. Choices that are conscious of material, longevity, and life.

Your home is either supporting your health — or working against it.

Light, circulation, visual rest, and spatial flow all affect how you sleep, focus, and feel. This is the foundation of every diagnosis.

A well-designed space doesn't just function — it gives you pleasure.

Calm, sensoriality, beauty, and joy are not luxuries. They are the conditions that make a home worth living in.

What clients say

"Marta prepared our tiny home for the arrival of our first daughter, and now we are enjoying it with our second. We often call her just to say thank you. The sense of order and the way light moves through the space bring me a deep feeling of tranquility — and that calm is something my daughters experience too. I truly believe this environment supports their development."

— Fon Marroquín

"Marta stands out immediately. She brings original thinking to every project, finds simple solutions where others see complexity, and approaches space with a rare combination of intelligence and intuition. Working with her is a genuine pleasure."

— Luis Marcos Díaz, Architect Collaborator

"Even as a carpenter with my own solutions, I appreciate how Marta thinks differently. She sees all angles and brings a creativity that surprised me. From the folding door that almost magically transformed a one-bedroom into two, to the organic stairs in the little cottage, her Japanese-influenced approach feels perfectly in tune with the spirit of the Bay Area."

— Jan Sturmann, Carpenter, Berkeley

"After my kids left the house, it no longer felt like my home. Marta helped me rethink the space and the way I wanted to live in this new stage of my life. Her ideas brought joy back into the house."

— Deni Chambers, Kensington CA

Transformable Shelves

Modular · Adaptable

Transformable Shelves began as a response to a simple question: what if storage could give something back?

Seven modules, each different. Slide, rotate, reconfigure. Storage, display, seating, room divider, bench, even stairs. The same piece, infinite arrangements.

Inspired by the Japanese Tokonoma — a space of intentional display and quiet beauty. Designed to move with you as life changes.

Tell me about your space.

Perhaps you're about to buy a home and want to see what it could become before you sign.

Maybe life has shifted — a new person, a new chapter, a new version of yourself — and your space hasn't caught up yet.

Or it could simply be that something isn't working, and you want to live better because of it.

I work with you to understand your space and shape solutions that fit your life.
